Misc Works in Progress

Hot damn, I've been a busy girl! Work at uni, my new Tee shop and regular(ish) A Goblin Guardian updates have been keeping my hands pretty full continuously this year. But although it's tiring, it's been super interesting and quite fun to learn so many new things! Makes me really sad to not have so much time to draw or paint any more, though, as it's a 3D course, but things are about to get a lot busier with a top-secret sideproject ZaneA and I are working on, fwee! <33

I had a rare amount of spare time this week, so I decided to give this little blog some lovin' with a short update and some WIP screencaps. I have loads of stuff to show off, but I'll try to leave some for later. ;) I've been practising quite a lot and I feel that my drawings have become a lot more solid. I've always struggled with light as well, so I've taken the time to do a few portrait studies, too. Life drawing made all the difference omg... So without further ado...

Here's a pretty random painting I did at the start of the year. It was super unplanned as always and it's pretty plain, so I don't find it overly appealing, but I think it could count as one of the first paintings I completed in the new year... Here's a step-by-step:

Final!

And next is a portrait I painted of my best friend a while ago. I sometimes look at it and still feel that it's a little muddy, but I'm quite pleased with the result in general:

Blending, no smudge tool ftw.

Ta-dah!

So as you can see, big difference. I think I'll leave it at that for now! Thanks for reading!

Ink Collection, Pt III

It's been a while since my last post, but to continue from the previous post here is the third of the Ink Collection. It still goes untitled.

Ink Collection, Pt II

I've completed the second addition to the ink collection I'm doing! "The Rebel" is 9"x12" (so is Lotus Man). I drew right onto the edges... >.>

I can't wait to go frame shopping! ~<3

Ink Collection, Pt I

I've decided to do a collection of ink illustrations starting today!
The first has no title yet, but I lovingly call him "Lotus Man", so perhaps that should be his title. :P I've already completed another which I'll post soon as well. <3

Enjoy!

"Mia" WIP

So, it's been a while since I last posted and this blog has pretty much just been dead for the last few months. Luckily since I have built up a little bit of an archive of screencaps, I can make a few WIP/Process posts! :D Wee!

I've been quite busy in the last few weeks getting everything ready for a university application. My portfolio needed some new, fresher stuff so I embarked on a mission to try new things.

Here is a badass character I painted last week named "Mia". She uses only blades and blunt objects as weapons - and she hates guns (Her bullet belt is just an accessory, but also reminds her why she hates guns so much due to a possible experience from the past. Not too sure about her history yet). Her weapons include two sets of simple smooth "daggerchucks", which are pretty much as the name implies: an extended form of nunchucks with a dagger on one end and a normal handle on the other. This allows her to do long-ranged attacks and sling the blades around. As a result she's really nimble, athletic, and physically very strong.

Once my application is complete and all the panic is out of the way, I might do a proper character sheet for her. I've taken quite a liking to her. :) Here are a few screencaps of the WIP:

Hated that background...

Still hated that background...

I wasn't sure what to do with the background for a really long time, but I'm glad I decided to go with something simple in the end.

That's it! Laters folks!

Spirit Character Redesign

So I've been trying to fiddle around with Merùsanite's characters a bit to give them a bit of an upgrade. I don't think this one is quite there yet, so I'll thumbnail a bit more...

Cyprus Design Update WIP

One of the main characters for an old concept that I've been working with on-and-offish. Merùsanite's Cyprus:
"She is an Elven dragon-tamer and traveller from the Southern Meadows, Spirit's bosom buddy, and also Spirit's bodyguard."
I had quite a bit of fun painting her, though I still need a loooot of practice with armour... Overall I'm quite happy with her. :)

Also, instead of creating a comic for this concept (which might still happen one day), I've decided to transform it into a Final Fantasty Tactics-esque game. I'm not giving myself a deadline for it, as I am starting a new job soon and have no idea what my schedule will be like then, but it is definitely on my "Finish by 2014" list (along with another exciting announcement, but more about that later) and I really hope to have a good go at it.

For now, there is painting to be done and house to clean, so adiós, friends.
Have a fabulous week!
